DIY Notebook V2

DIY Notebook V2

I recently wrote about my first DIY notebook, using Circa discs, a Hobonichi Techo leather cover, and paper I cut myself.
It looked great, but didnt really work for me because:
  1. its too thick and makes me look even lumpier than I actually am, and
  2. its too heavy (especially the Hobo cover) so it makes my suit jackets sag to the right.
So Ive developed an alternative. I had a Field Notes-ish cover from CedarWaxcraft via Etsy. I didnt like it for Field Notes books because they fit too loosely (and so slid around a lot) and there was too much overhang.
But its ridiculously light compared to the leather Hobo cover.
And the quasi-A6 sheets (akin to Franklin Covey Pocket size) that I was using in the HoboCirca mashup were larger, which ate up most of the overhang.
And so I present to you my DIY Notebook Version 2!
Notice I switched to the smallest Circa discs I have (0.5). This still provides for enough paper yet keeps the profile thin.
I couldnt do this with the Hobo cover because theres just too much leather and its just too stiff.
Youll also notice I had to hack a bit at the back cover to make it fit the CedarWaxcraft slot. Indeed, I think I hacked off a bit too much of the cover. Fortunately, theyre easy to make; I just have to become annoyed enough by the bit of slippage I get to make myself a new one.
I find the V2 much more usable than the original, and though I loved how the Hobo cover looked and felt in my hand, usability will always win the day with me.
